Dhaka: Azerbaijan began their Tri-Nation series with a winning note as they blanked Malaysia by 2-0 goals held at National Stadium under the floodlights today. In the day's match, midfielder Bozdag Peritan and defender Mirazliyeva Nigar scored one goal each for Azerbaijan. Both the goals came in the first half.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the early breakthrough for Azerbaijan came in the 4th minute. Bozdag Peritan sent the ball to the net with a right footer shot from the top of the box. The second goal came for Azerbaijan in the 24th minute when defender Mirazliyeva Nigar took a long-range right footer shot, the ball crashing into the back of the net after hitting the crossbar.
After the resumption, Malaysia, however, tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but could not score in the remaining proceedings. Earlier, Malaysia beat host Bangladesh by 1-0 in their opening match of the tournament. Azerbaijan will play their second and ultimate match against Bangladesh on December 2 at the same venue.
