Abahani Limited Dhaka Secures First Win in Bangladesh Football League

Cumilla: Ten-men Abahani Limited Dhaka registered their first win in the United Healthcare Bangladesh Football League (BFL) by defeating Bangladesh Police Football Club 2-0 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the breakthrough for Abahani Limited came in the 25th minute when Malian forward Souleymane Diabate scored the first goal by converting a spot kick. Midfielder Enamul Islam Gazi doubled the lead by scoring the second goal for Abahani in the 43rd minute of the match. Despite Alamgir Mollah of Abahani Limited receiving a marching order from the referee due to double yellow cards, the team managed to maintain their lead.

After the break, Abahani Limited had several scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them due to a lack of proper finishing. With this victory, Abahani Limited, known for their sky blue Dhanmondi colors, increased their points tally to four from four matches. Bangladesh Police Football Club, on the other hand, remained at five points having played the same number of matches.

In other news, the fourth round of matches continues on the following day with Fakirerpool Young Men's Club facing defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj. PWD Sports Club will meet Brothers Union Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, while Bashudhara Kings will play against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Bashundra Kings Arena in the capital.
