Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) this morning conducted a special cleanliness and mosquito control drive to curb dengue in Ward-15 of the Dhanmondi area. DSCC Administrator Md Mahmudul Hasan joined the drive as the chief guest, overseeing the efforts to mitigate the spread of dengue.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign began in the morning and involved 900 cleanliness and mosquito control workers from the DSCC Waste Management and Health Departments. Local residents also participated actively in the initiative. The campaign focused on removing waste from lakes, drains, sewers, and footpaths, while also applying mosquito control chemicals.

In addition to the physical cleanup, a public awareness rally and leaflet distribution were held, with participation from local residents, the Dhanmondi Society, and the Dhanmondi Residential Area Taxpayers’ Association. These activities aimed to educate the public on the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent the spread of dengue.

During the drive, the DSCC Administrator emphasized the importance of resident involvement in the corporation’s activities. He noted that such engagement helps identify the needs, expectations, and suggestions of each locality, enabling effective planning and implementation. He expressed hope for building a clean, livable, and mosquito- and pollution-free city and urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly at designated points.

DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Zahirul Islam, departmental heads, and leaders of local social organizations were present during the campaign, underscoring the collective effort to address the dengue issue in the area.
