Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced today that Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, currently on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh, inquired about the health condition of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul shared this information with reporters after a courtesy meeting with the Bhutanese Prime Minister at the Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka. The discussions during the meeting also encompassed various issues of mutual interest, including trade, commerce, and energy cooperation between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Bhutanese Prime Minister sent a bouquet of flowers for Begum Khaleda Zia. Fakhrul also mentioned that Bhutan expressed its hope for a fair and impartial election in Bangladesh and stated that “Bhutan will work with whichever government assumes power.”
The meeting was attended by BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid, who were also present during the discussions.
