Tokyo: Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan, Md Daud Ali, has emphasized the mutual benefits of investment in Bangladesh through technology transfer and the establishment of factories.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ambassador made this statement during a meeting with a four-member delegation from AEON Co. Ltd., one of Japan’s leading business conglomerates, at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo. The delegation briefed the ambassador about their recent business visit to Bangladesh and praised the country’s infrastructural development. They expressed interest in investing in promising sectors within Bangladesh.
The ambassador highlighted Bangladesh’s export potential beyond its renowned readymade garments industry. He pointed out that Bangladesh is a significant source of frozen fish, vegetables, processed foods, leather goods, handicrafts, and other products. Furthermore, he discussed the government’s initiatives to expand trade, outlining Bangladesh’s comparative advantages and its growing capabilities in the IT sector.
In addition to discussing investment opportunities, the ambassador requested AEON to extend its scholarship program to include more Bangladeshi students and to consider employing Bangladeshi workers across its outlets in Japan.
