Barisal: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today stated that the planned upcoming national election is expected to create a new history in Bangladesh but warned any attempt to temper the polls would face a ‘resolute response’. ‘Any attempt to manipulate votes or occupy polling centres, as seen in previous elections, will face a resolute response,’ he told the ‘Mushlihin National Representative Conference’ at the Nesarabad Madrasa ground in this southwestern district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Jamaat chief emphasized that his party would not be intimidated by any threat or show of force and reaffirmed their commitment to continue the struggle against oppression, fascism, and divisive politics. He urged all Islamic-minded groups to unite in defense of faith and justice.
Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, present as a special guest, expressed that if Islamic political parties could unite and jointly protect ballot boxes in the next election, ‘a new chapter in national history can truly be written’. The event also saw participation from Khelafat Majlish Ameer Maulana Abdul Basit Azad, National Citizen Party (NCP) General Secretary Akhtar Hossain, AB Party General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, and BNP’s Central Religious Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam Jamal.
Most speakers emphasized that the unity of Islamic parties in the forthcoming election would achieve the desired goal and anticipated that people with Islamic beliefs would ultimately determine the country’s direction. Mushlihin Ameer Maulana Khalilur Rahman, who leads the Nesarabadi Madrasah, chaired the rally which attracted a large number of devout attendees. The representative gathering was part of the second day of the annual Waz Mahfil of the Nesarabad Darbar Sharif.
