Dhaka: The government has formally requested the Election Commission (EC) to hold the 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum on the same day. Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, addressed journalists regarding this development after a workshop at a city hotel.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Cabinet Division sent a letter to the Election Commission Secretariat on Thursday. The letter outlined the request for the EC to organize the referendum alongside the national parliamentary election. The proposal indicates that both significant events will occur simultaneously, streamlining the electoral process.
