Sylhet: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to conduct its 191st public hearing tomorrow at the Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Sylhet’s Rikabibazar area. The hearing aims to enhance public awareness and improve service quality in government and autonomous offices while preventing harassment of service recipients and bolstering efforts to combat corruption.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Sylhet Integrated District Office of the ACC has organized this event under the slogan “Youth united against corruption will build a purified future.” The hearing seeks to provide a platform for aggrieved citizens to voice their complaints regarding harassment or deprivation of services in various government offices. The ACC intends to address these grievances in the presence of heads of all district-level government departments, ensuring that immediate decisions are made on the issues raised.

The event will feature ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen as the chief guest, with Commissioner (Investigation) Miah Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Secretary Mohammad Khaled Rahim attending as special guests. The primary goal of the public hearing is to secure access to government services and eradicate corruption by fostering integrity, dedication, accountability, and values among government officials and employees.

In preparation for the hearing, the ACC has conducted widespread publicity across the district, including miking, posters, leaflet distribution, and the establishment of complaint collection booths and boxes. Announcements have also been made through various media outlets, generating a strong public response. The ACC has invited all Sylhet citizens who oppose corruption, as well as journalists from electronic and print media, to attend and contribute to the event’s success.
