Gaza: Gaza’s Hamas rulers have announced their rejection of a United Nations resolution passed on Monday, which calls for the deployment of an international force in the territory. They argue that the resolution fails to honor the “demands and rights” of the Palestinian people.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Islamist militant group issued a statement criticizing the resolution for not aligning with the political and humanitarian needs of Palestinians. The statement also expressed strong opposition to the establishment of an international force with a mission that includes the disarmament of Palestinian groups in Gaza.
The statement further argued that the resolution effectively imposes an international trusteeship over the Gaza Strip, which is unacceptable to the people, their forces, and constituent groups.
The UN Security Council’s vote in favor of the resolution, drafted by the United States, aims to support President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan. The plan outlines the deployment of an international force and proposes a pathway to a future Palestinian state. The resolution received 13 votes in favor, with Russia and China abstaining and no countries exercising a veto. Washington has described the resolution as “historic and constructive.”
