Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has published the final voter list ahead of the 13th national elections. According to the voter list, there is a total of 12,76,95,183 voters in the country now. Of them, 6,48,14,907 are male voters, while 6,28,79,042 are female voters and 1,234 third gender (Hijra) voters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed released the final voter list at a briefing in front of his office at Nirbachan Bhaban in city’s Agargaon on Tuesday. EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed stated that the EC has updated the voter list by including those who reached the age of 18 as on October 31.
He explained that the growth rate of male voters is 2.29 percent, while women voters have a growth rate of 4.16 percent. He mentioned that the published figures reflect the growth rate from the voter list that was finalized on March 2. Responding to a question, the EC Secretary attributed the increase in voter numbers to efforts such as door-to-door voter registration and campaigns encouraging voter registration.

In a supplementary voter list published on August 31, the total number of voters was recorded as 12,63,09,504.
The EC Secretary also noted that as of March 2 this year, the total number of voters in the country was 12,37,32,274. Subsequently, a supplementary draft voter list was released on August 10, which included voters registered until June 30.
