Dhaka: Bangladesh will implement a nine-day special security plan for the 13th general election, slated for February next year, as announced by the country’s Home Affairs Adviser, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, yesterday. The plan is designed to ensure a secure environment for the electoral process and could be adjusted based on the evolving situation in the country.
According to Nam News Network, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that currently, 30,000 Bangladeshi soldiers are on duty, and this number will increase to almost 100,000 to provide security for the election. The deployment of soldiers is a part of the broader strategy to maintain peace and order during the election period.
The adviser emphasized that other security forces will also be involved to ensure that the election proceeds safely and remains under control. The concerted effort is crucial as the country prepares for its first general election since a mass uprising led to the ousting of the then Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, last year.
