Dhaka: The expatriate voter registration app ‘Postal Vote BD’ is scheduled to be launched tomorrow evening, as announced by Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah today. The announcement was made during the closing remarks of the third day of the Election Commission’s dialogue with registered political parties, held at the Nirbachan Bhaban conference room in Agargaon, ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sanaullah emphasized the strategic timing of the app’s launch, highlighting its synchronization with global time to accommodate expatriate Bangladeshis. He noted the significance of the expatriate community, which comprises an estimated 1.40 crore individuals, accounting for seven to eight percent of the national population. The Election Commissioner expressed optimism that expatriate voter turnout would surpass that of other countries.
In a related development, EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick informed BSS that Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is set to inaugurate the ‘Postal Vote BD’ mobile app. The inauguration will take place at 6 pm tomorrow at the Election Commission Bhaban auditorium. Sanaullah also called upon political parties to actively encourage expatriate voters to register using the new app.
