Dhaka: A court here today placed four individuals, including the two shooters involved in the daylight murder of listed criminal Tarik Saif Mamun, on a five-day remand each. The incident occurred in Old Dhaka's Sutrapur area on November 10. The individuals remanded are Md Faruk Hossain Foysal, Robin Ahammed Pias, and their accomplices Shamim Ahammed and Md Rubel.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman issued the remand order after police presented the four suspects before the court. This followed the conclusion of their four-day remand in an arms case related to the incident. Police requested to show the suspects as arrested in the murder case filed with the Sutrapur Police Station and subsequently sought a 10-day remand.
Previously, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partho Bhodro had placed the four accused, along with another suspect, Yusuf, on a four-day remand in the arms case registered at Mohammadpur Police Station. The arrests of Faruk, Robin, Shamim, and Rubel took place in Narsingdi on November 11, while Yusuf was apprehended in Dhaka's Rayerbazar area on November 12.
Authorities seized two foreign-made pistols, six rounds of bullets, two magazines, and two motorcycles believed to have been used in the murder. Additionally, Taka 1.53 lakh in cash was confiscated from their possession. The police subsequently filed a case under the Arms Act on November 12.
Mamun's widow, Bilkis Akter Ripa, lodged the murder case on November 15. The shooting of Mamun occurred on November 10, in front of the National Medical College Hospital.
