Patuakhali: BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today expressed that his party continues to have confidence in the interim government led by Dr Yunus. Rizvi made these remarks while speaking to journalists during a visit to assist elderly couple Abdul Gani Jamaddar and his wife in the Boro Bighai union of Patuakhali sadar upazila, on behalf of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for signing an agreement with India's private company, Adani, claiming it serves the interests of the company rather than Bangladesh. He argued that such agreements compromise the country's sovereignty and national interests.
Rizvi emphasized that any agreements and investments must prioritize national interests and that foreign company engagements should not compromise the country's independence and security. He warned about the potential consequences of allowing foreign operators control over ports and crucial infrastructure, which could raise concerns about national security and sovereignty.
He urged Dr Yunus to address these issues, highlighting the frustration among the people due to several government decisions perceived as contrary to national interests. Also present at the event were Patuakhali District BNP President Snehangshu Sarkar Kutti, General Secretary Advocate Mujibur Rahman Toton, and 'Amra BNP Poribar' convener, journalist Atikur Rahman Ruman, among others.
