Dinajpur: The government today distributed 164 goats and floor mats to 77 people from small ethnic groups in Chirirbandar upazila. This initiative aims to improve the socio-economic and living standards of these communities residing in the plains of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution was conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fatema-Tuz-Zohra, who served as the chief guest at the event held at the upazila parishad premises. Under a development project by the Livestock Department, each of the 77 families received two goats and five floor mats.
In her remarks, Fatema-Tuz-Zohra highlighted the government's efforts to enhance the quality of life for disadvantaged and small ethnic groups at the grassroots level. She noted that the distribution of free goats is a testament to the government's commitment to supporting these communities.
The event was presided over by Upazila Livestock Officer Md. Raihan Ali. Other notable attendees included Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Hamidur Rahman, Upazila Cooperative Officer Basudeb Chandra Das, Upazila Youth Development Officer Mohammad Raihan Ali, and Morshed ul Alam, the General Secretary of the Chirirbandar Press Club.
