Bogura: A joint team of the Bangladesh Army and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with a significant quantity of drugs during a drive in the Chaksutrapur area of the district town.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation commenced on Wednesday evening and continued until Thursday morning, as reported by Firoz Ahmed, Company Commander of RAB-12, Bogura, during a briefing with reporters at 10:30 am on Thursday. The joint team seized 178 bottles of country liquor (Carew), 43 bottles (21.5 litres) of local liquor, 45 kilograms of marijuana, 35 grams of heroin, and eight pieces of yaba tablets during the raid.
The operation specifically targeted the Chaksutrapur Kasaipara Colony area, where nearly 100 houses were searched from 8 pm on Wednesday until 10:15 am on Thursday. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement personnel also recovered 18 digital weighing scales used in drug trading, three chapatis, one Burmese knife, three mobile phones, and Taka 1,43,420 in cash.
RAB officials confirmed that legal action is currently underway against the detainees.
