Cumilla: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a significant quantity of Indian smuggled goods valued at approximately Taka 2.71 crore from a train in the Rasulpur Railway Station area of the district. The operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat smuggling activities in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz confirmed the recovery. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team comprising BGB and police personnel, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md Sarwar Zahan, conducted a raid on the Chattogram-bound Chattal Express. During the operation, various smuggled goods, including cosmetics, were seized.
BGB sources indicated that the confiscated items will be handed over to customs authorities through a legal process. The successful operation underscores the vigilance and coordination between law enforcement agencies in tackling cross-border smuggling activities.
