Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to conduct a DNA test to confirm the real parents of Md Kamal Hossain, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Nachol in Chapainawabganj. This decision comes amid allegations surrounding Hossain’s employment under the freedom fighter quota.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain announced at a media briefing that Md Kamal Hossain secured his civil service position through the 35th BCS examination using the freedom fighter quota. The case against him was filed by Md Manjurul Islam Mintu, Deputy Assistant Director of the ACC’s Combined District Office in Dhaka, on December 26 of the previous year.
Md Kamal Hossain previously held positions as the UNO of Atrai upazila in Naogaon and as a senior assistant commissioner in the Magura Deputy Commissioner’s office. The case details allege that Hossain committed fraud by claiming his uncle, freedom fighter Md Ahsan Habib, and aunt Sanowara Khatun as his parents, rather than his biological parents Md Abul Kashem and Habiya Khatun.
The investigating officer has submitted an application to the commission for a DNA test to ascertain Hossain’s biological parents. The commission has since approved this request, and the case remains under investigation.
