Rangamati: A motorcyclist lost his life and three others sustained injuries when a covered van collided with his motorcycle at Betbunia under Kaukhali upazila. The victim has been identified as Paisi Thoai, a 32-year-old office assistant at Kashkhali High School, residing in East Monai Para area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred in front of the Betbunia Police Outpost. The covered van struck the motorcycle head-on, resulting in the immediate death of Paisi Thoai. His wife and two children, who were also on the motorcycle, suffered injuries and received initial medical treatment at a local hospital.
Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam Sohag of Kaukhali Police Station reported that the family was returning home after attending the Kathin Chibar Daan festival at Betbunia Central Buddhist Bihar. In connection with the accident, police have arrested the covered van driver, 38-year-old Abdur Rahim.
