Jahangirnagar university: The Nature Conservation Initiative (NCI), an environmental organization based at Jahangirnagar University, hosted the "Nature Fest 2025" today, marking a day full of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and conservation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized in collaboration with Envolead and GRM Consulting Services Limited, taking place at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium's seminar room. The festival was inaugurated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, who served as the chief guest. Other distinguished figures in attendance included Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Sohel Ahmed, NCI Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, and Prof Md. Jamal Uddin from the Environmental Sciences Department.
The event was a hub of activities, beginning with a symbolic tree plantation and the unveiling of a plaque to underscore the significance of environmental conservation. Approximately 500 students from various academic institutions participated, engaging in a children's drawing competition, a photo exhibition, and a project and idea exhibition that showcased innovative, environmentally-friendly initiatives developed by university students.
Throughout the day, participants took part in poster presentations and a quiz competition, displaying their knowledge on environmental issues and climate change. The event's highlight was a treasure hunt that had participants scouring the campus for clues, adding an element of excitement and engagement.
The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing and rewarding the winners for their exceptional contributions and knowledge in the realm of environmental conservation. Through such initiatives, NCI aims to inspire the younger generation to adopt a more conscious and responsible approach toward the environment, fostering a sustainable future.
