Bagerhat: A woman was killed and two others were injured when a truck hit a passenger van in the Bahirdia Jamrultala area of Fakirhat upazila on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Sikta Khatun.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 6:30 pm on the Bagerhat-Rupsa old road when a Rupsa-bound truck collided head-on with a van heading towards Fakirhat Bazar. Police and local sources confirmed that Sikta died on the way to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, while the injured were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Fakirhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak Mir confirmed the incident, stating that police seized the truck and arrested its driver and helper from the Bahirdia Camp area. The body was handed over to the family after legal formalities, the officer added.
