Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Sharmeen Soneya Murshid today emphasized the importance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being to foster a new and prosperous Bangladesh. She made these remarks during the inauguration of the two-day National Nutrition and Wellness Summit at the Department of Social Services auditorium in Agargaon, where she served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Murshid highlighted the crucial role of youth in promoting nutrition and mental health to ensure the development of a healthy generation. She urged young people to embrace unity, respect, and inclusiveness, stressing the need for the younger generation to prepare for social work as a means of leading the country forward.
Murshid further noted that over half of the country’s population consists of youth, whose active participation is essential in creating a society free from corruption. The event also featured speeches from Director General of the Department of Social Services Md. Saidur Rahman Khan and SERAC Bangladesh Executive Director SM Shaikat.
Additionally, the summit was attended by leaders from various social organizations, including NIRAPAD Alliance, Mission Green Bangladesh, and HeartWise Nutrition, who gathered to discuss the importance of wellness and nutrition in the nation’s progress.
