Dhaka: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a notable surge in its turnover reaching Taka 4.8 billion. This significant figure marks a substantial increase of 21.1 percent compared to the turnover recorded in the DSE’s previous session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), plummeted by 22.3 points to settle at 5,089 points as against 5,112 points in the previous trading session. On the sectoral front, Pharmaceuticals issues exerted the highest turnover at 12.1 percent, followed by Engineering at 10.9 percent and Textile at 10.1 percent. Sectors mostly displayed dismal returns, with General Insurance, Life Insurance, and Paper exerting the most corrections on the bourse today, recording declines of 3.2 percent, 2.3 percent, and 2.3 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, marginal gains were exhibited in the Food, Ceramic, and IT sectors at 1.1 percent, 0.8 percent, and 0.4 percent, respectively.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 79 advanced, 240 declined, and 78 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on a positive note. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 13.3 points and 20.1 points, respectively.
