Dhaka: Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with five institutions to enhance cooperation in research, education, training, and technological development within Bangladesh’s energy and mineral resources sector.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement was formalized at the BPI headquarters through a signing ceremony, as announced in a press release. The five collaborating entities include the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Rajshahi, the Institute of Mining, Mineralogy and Metallurgy under BCSIR, the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering (PMRE) at BUET, Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla), and CodersTrust Limited.
Signatories of the MoU included Khen Chan, Director General of BPI; Professor Dr. Yunus Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Rajshahi; Md. Shamsul Haque, CEO of CodersTrust Limited; Abul Fatah Md. Baligur Rahman, Member of BCSIR; Dr. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman, Professor and Head of PMRE Department at BUET; and Md. Amzad Hossain, Secretary and Senior GM of Petrobangla, representing their respective institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam as the chief guest, with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman Md. Amin Ul Ahsan present as the special guest. The press release noted that this collaboration is anticipated to significantly contribute to enhancing the nation’s human resources and technical capabilities, which are vital for ensuring energy security and sustainable development.
