Dhaka: Police in separate drives have arrested four leaders of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from the capital and Bandarban district on Thursday (October 16). The arrested individuals are members of various sub-committees and units within the AL, including Md Abdul Jalil, Md Habibur Rahman, Md Shawkat Ali alias Shawkat Choiyal, and Md Atikur Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued a press release detailing the arrests. The release stated that a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Police apprehended Abdul Jalil in the Kafrul area of the capital at approximately 5.35 pm on October 16. In a separate operation, the DB Ramna Division team detained Md Habibur Rahman at the Moghbazar intersection around 9.30 pm.
Additionally, a team from the DB Wari Division arrested Shawkat Choiyal in the Mirhajirbagh area of Jatrabari at 9.00 pm, while the DB Tejgaon Division apprehended Md Atikur Rahman in Bandarban district last night. The DMP release also mentioned that the process of taking legal actions against the arrested individuals is currently underway.
