Dhaka: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has collected evidence from the site of the Mirpur fire in which 16 people have so far been killed. Two teams of the CID, comprising crime scene and chemical experts, gathered samples from the location.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire broke out in the Anwar Fashion Garments Factory and Shah Alam Chemical Warehouse in the Sialbari area of Mirpur around 11:40 am. The fire service deployed 12 units in phases to extinguish the fire.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence have successfully put out the fire at the garments unit, but efforts are still ongoing to control the blaze at the chemical depot. So far, sixteen bodies have been recovered from the garments factory.
