Dhaka: Health officials today announced the recording of 841 new dengue cases, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed that the recent spike included hospitalizations of 125 patients in Barishal division, 106 in Chattogram division, and 214 in Dhaka division excluding the capital. Additionally, 128 cases were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 173 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Other affected regions include Khulna division with 26 cases, Mymensingh division with 19, Rangpur division with 47, and Sylhet division with three cases.
Since the beginning of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 238 deaths and 56,257 infections. In comparison, last year saw 575 deaths and 101,214 infections due to the disease.
