Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today announced it has filed a case against Delwar Hossain, the former chairman of Dinajpur Zila Parisad, on charges related to acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, ACC spokesman Md Tanzir Ahmed revealed that the case was filed by the ACC's deputy assistant director, Md Alam Miah, under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004. Ahmed reported that Hossain was found to have acquired assets worth Tk.7.64 crore, which were inconsistent with his known sources of income.
Ahmed detailed that evidence was uncovered showing Hossain's immoveable wealth amounted to Tk.14.18 crore located in Dhaka, Dinajpur, and other areas. Additionally, his moveable assets were estimated to be worth over Tk.6.28 crore, bringing the total value of his assets to Tk.13.81 crore. In contrast, his known sources of income were found to be Tk.8.79 crore.
The ACC's allegations suggest that the former zila parishad chairman amassed wealth worth over Tk.7 crore from October 12, 2002, up to 2025. The ACC office in Dinajpur has been tasked with investigating the case further.
