Dhaka: The Department of Social Services (DSS) has called for online applications from prospective beneficiaries for various allowances and stipends under the social security programme.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification, signed by Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Director (Social Security) of the Social Security Branch of the DSS, announced the commencement of the application process for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The benefits include old age allowance, widow and husband abuse allowance, disability allowance, educational stipends for students with disabilities, and specific allowances for hijras, bedes, backward classes, and tea workers.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online from October 13 to November 6, using the link dss.bhata.gov.bd/online-application. The goal is to streamline the disbursement of allowances through the Government to Person (G2P) system. The notification emphasizes the need for adequate publicity before accepting applications.

Applicants for the disability allowance are required to possess a Golden Citizen Card and must undergo verification via the Disability Information System (DIS). Additionally, applicants need to provide their national identity card, and details of their mobile financial service and bank account linked to an active SIM.

The circular from the Ministry of Finance dated 01/04/2024 must be adhered to, particularly regarding the provision of an active mobile number for communication purposes. Applicants currently receiving other government benefits are ineligible for this programme. Furthermore, those who have previously applied online need not reapply if they are already on a waiting list.

Allocations will depend on the online applications received and any existing waiting lists, pending approval from relevant authorities. The application process, including screening and selection, is scheduled to conclude by November 30, with final beneficiaries slated to receive allowances starting July 1, 2025.

The notification urges unit offices to diligently follow the outlined instructions and take necessary steps to ensure smooth execution. For assistance, the technical team of the Social Security Department and the relevant branch remain available for contact.
