Committee Formed to Implement Typhoid Vaccination Program

Dhaka: The government has initiated a plan to establish a coordination committee at the local government level nationwide to ensure the effective implementation of a typhoid vaccination program scheduled for October 12. This initiative aims to streamline efforts and enhance the efficiency of the vaccination campaign across the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee will be led by the local Mayor or Administrator and will include ten members. These members comprise the Police Commissioner, Civil Surgeon, Deputy Director (DD) of the Family Planning Directorate, DD of Social Services Office, DD of Islamic Foundation, District Education Officer, District Primary Education Officer, and Senior Information Officer of the District. The Chief Health Officer of the respective upazila will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.

The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued detailed instructions regarding the formation and responsibilities of this committee. An official handout emphasized that the committee's main objectives are to ensure the successful completion of the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025 and to raise public awareness about the importance of typhoid vaccination.

As part of the program, a single dose of the typhoid vaccine will be administered to all students from pre-primary to 9th grade and their equivalents, as well as to all children aged 9 months to 15 years who are not enrolled in educational institutions.
