Dhaka: The US Navy ship USS Fitzgerald arrived in Dhaka today for a three-day goodwill visit. The USS Fitzgerald was warmly received by the Bangladesh Navy ship Banoza Abu Ubaidah, as confirmed by a release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, naval officers from both nations exchanged greetings and good wishes. The visit provides an opportunity for the navies of the United States and Bangladesh to exchange professional knowledge, experience, and skills. This engagement aims to foster mutual understanding and create an effective platform for sharing experiences and skills.
The ISPR highlighted that such mutual activities and professional exchanges are expected to accelerate the excellence of both navies, aligning with advanced global naval technology. Representatives from the US Embassy in Bangladesh were present during the visit, underscoring the significance of this engagement.
Previously, the USS Fitzgerald made a goodwill visit to Bangladesh in 2022. This current visit is anticipated to further strengthen bilateral relations and provide opportunities for professional exchange, future training, and mutual cooperation between the naval officers and sailors of both countries. The USS Fitzgerald is scheduled to depart from Bangladeshi waters on October 10, 2025, concluding the visit.
