Dhaka: Turkish Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berris Ekinci, conveyed the greetings and best wishes of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with an invitation to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to visit Turkiye at a mutually convenient time during her visit today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deputy minister delivered these messages during a courtesy call on Professor Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna. In response, the Chief Adviser expressed his eagerness to visit Turkiye in the near future. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new areas of partnership between Bangladesh and Turkiye, particularly in education, healthcare, and technology.
"This is my first visit to Bangladesh," Ambassador Ekinci noted, expressing gratitude for the warm reception her delegation received. Professor Yunus emphasized the historical and cultural bonds between the two nations, stating, "We want to take our relationship higher than ever. This is a new beginning after the July Uprising, and our two countries can work together in many areas such as education, healthcare, and technology."
Professor Yunus also thanked the Turkish government for providing free medical treatment to seven Bangladeshis injured during the July Revolution. Ambassador Ekinci reiterated Turkiye's commitment to supporting Bangladesh's development efforts, highlighting educational opportunities such as scholarships and exchange programs that benefit students.
The meeting was also attended by Senior Secretary and SDG Coordinator Lamiya Morshed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Turkiye M Amanul Haq, and Director General of the East Europe and CIS wing Md Mosharaf Hossain.
