Naogaon: A fisherman lost his life after being struck by lightning while fishing in a beel located in Sadar upazila of Naogaon district today. The victim has been identified as Mofiz Uddin Basu, a 60-year-old resident of Bhimpur village in the Hansaigari union.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred this afternoon at Hansaigari Beel. Local authorities, including the Union Parishad Chairman Jasim Uddin Molla, reported that the body was recovered from the location of the incident and subsequently brought to the victim's home.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station, Nur Alam Siddiqui, confirmed the circumstances of Basu's death, stating that the information was verified through the local Union Parishad Chairman. The deceased's family managed the retrieval of the body and arranged for it to be taken home.
