Joint Forces Arrest 69 Suspected Criminals in Nationwide Drive: ISPR

Dhaka: The defence ministry’s inter service public relations directorate (ISPR) today reported that military-led joint forces conducted a weeklong nationwide operation, resulting in the arrest of 69 suspects involved in activities such as terrorism, unauthorized arms trading, child trafficking, drug trading, and participation in banned organizations.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ISPR stated that units from various infantry divisions and independent brigades of the Bangladesh Army collaborated with other law enforcement agencies to carry out multiple joint operations across the country from September 25, 2025, to October 2, 2025.



During these operations, the joint forces apprehended 69 criminals and confiscated 10 firearms, two magazines, three cocktails, 27 rounds of different types of ammunition, and several sharp weapons linked to terrorist activities. Additionally, a significant quantity of foreign-made drugs, mobile phones, and various goods and cash were seized from the detainees.



The statement further mentioned that the arrested individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations for interrogation and legal proceedings. The Bangladesh Army has been actively ensuring the security of 33,000 puja mandaps and temples during the ‘Durga Puja’ celebrations through continuous patrols in 62 districts, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts.



Moreover, the army is involved in addressing worker dissatisfaction in industrial zones. The Bangladesh Army plans to continue such operations to uphold law and order throughout the country and has urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp. The release emphasized the army’s commitment to maintaining professionalism and ensuring the security of the nation.
