Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy rainfall throughout the country over the next 72 hours, starting from 9 am today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD highlighted that a well-marked low over the west-central Bay and adjoining areas, combined with an active monsoon, is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to various divisions including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. The forecast warns of potential landslides in the hilly regions of the Chattogram division due to the impending heavy rainfall.
Additionally, the bulletin from BMD cautioned that temporary waterlogging might occur in parts of the Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas. In the last 24 hours from 9 am on Tuesday to 9 am today, Dhaka recorded the highest rainfall in the country, measuring 206 millimeters.
The BMD's regular bulletin also noted that the highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 37.6 degrees Celsius at the Sayedpur station, while Tangail station experienced the lowest temperature at 23.5 degrees Celsius today. In Dhaka, residents can expect the sun to set at 5:47 pm today, with sunrise scheduled for 5:50 am tomorrow.
