Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities today advised train travelers to buy their tickets using their 'Rail Seba' app to avoid possible fraudulence. 'Most of the online services proposing selling of railway tickets are frauds. The people can avoid the fraudulence using our ''Rail Seba' app,' a BR spokesman said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, several so-called online rail ticket providers propose lucrative offers and receive money through bKash, Nagad or other mobile banking, assuring travelers of providing tickets, only to disconnect their mobile phones or remove SIM cards, leaving victims in a state of wilderness.
Railway authorities have clarified that anyone with a National ID (NID) can purchase up to four tickets for a single journey using the ''Rail Seba' app. 'One may be exposed to cheats if he or she buys tickets from any person, institution or place other than the railway service,' a railway official stated.
To combat these fraudulent activities, BR's own security forces and the Railway Police (GRP) are engaged to take action against the fraudsters. Travelers are advised to call hotline 131 if they suspect anyone of being a cheat.
