Dhaka: The government has introduced a new Hajj package costing Taka 4.67 lakh per pilgrim, featuring a reduction of Tk. 12,000 in airfare. AFM Khalid Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, revealed the details during an inter-ministerial meeting held at the ministry's conference room today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement also included two additional Hajj packages. Special Hajj Package-1 is priced at Tk 6,90,597, while Hajj Package-2 costs Tk 5,58,881. The standard Hajj Package-3 is available for Tk 4,67,167. Packages 1 and 2 provide transportation and quality accommodation as per the ministry's Hajj package schedule.
The government has also prepared a Hajj package specifically for pilgrims under private management through Hajj agencies, with a cost of Tk. 5,09,185 per pilgrim. The adviser emphasized that Hajj is a collaborative effort between the Royal Saudi Government and the pilgrim-sending countries.
The Saudi government retains authority in policy-making and determining necessary expenses on their side. As the final costs for Hajj 2026 are pending confirmation, the packages have been devised based on potential expenses aligned with the previous year's costs. Adjustments will be made if the Royal Saudi Government alters any sector costs, impacting the package price accordingly. Surplus funds will be returned to pilgrims if costs decrease.
The upcoming Hajj is projected for May 26, 2026, contingent on the lunar calendar. A total of 127,198 pilgrims are expected to participate in the Hajj next year. Assuming favorable conditions, the first Hajj flight is scheduled for April 18, 2026. Official records indicate that 87,100 pilgrims undertook the Holy Hajj last year.
