Rajshahi: The World Tourism Day was observed today with a call to take effective steps to promote tourism in Rajshahi, a region rich in ancient archaeological sites and natural beauty. The district administration and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation marked the occasion by organizing a rally on the collectorate building premises, followed by a meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has declared "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation" as the theme for World Tourism Day 2025. This theme aims to highlight tourism's potential as a force for positive change. The meeting was addressed by several officials, including Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter, In-charge of Tourist Police Zabed Masud, Manager of Parjatan Motel Motaher Hossain, and Deputy Director of District Information Office Nafeyala Nasrim.

Afia Akhter emphasized that local tourists could play a vital role in revitalizing the tourism sector. She stressed the importance of enhancing Bangladesh Tourism Board's activities and mentioned the ongoing formulation of a 20-year master plan for the development of the tourism sector. The successful implementation of this plan is expected to significantly elevate the sector.

Akhter also highlighted the need for an investment-friendly atmosphere to promote tourism, alongside improvements in communication, services, and infrastructure. She pointed out that making tourist arrival methods easier is crucial for the sector's growth and that tourism has the potential to generate employment across all districts. The master plan should be comprehensive, taking all these factors into account.
