Dhaka: International Day for Universal Access to Information will be observed on September 28.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the theme for this year’s observance is “Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age.” Various programs are planned to raise public awareness about the right to information.
To commemorate this day, the Information Commission and different institutions have organized several programs across the country, including in Dhaka. A central discussion meeting is scheduled to take place at the auditorium of the Information Commission Bangladesh on September 28 at 3 pm. Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam will participate as the chief guest, with Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana as a special guest. Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr. Iftekharuzzaman and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Fahmida Khanam will join as discussants.
Separate discussions are also planned at the district level. Additionally, in alignment with the day’s theme, activities such as promotional SMS campaigns, digital scrolls and advertising boards showcasing documentaries on the right to information, and festoon promotions on websites have been organized.
All electronic media, including government and private television channels, have been requested to broadcast the theme “Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age” on their scrolls today and tomorrow.
