Mother and Infant Among Three Dead in Rangpur Highway Collision

Rangpur: Three people, including a mother and her one-year-old baby, were killed, and three others were injured in a tragic road accident at the Domdoma area on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway on the outskirts of the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place at 4 a.m. when a sand-laden truck collided with a pick-up van. The impact resulted in the deaths of Shahina Begum, 28; her baby, Walid Hossain Swadhin; and Arif Hossain, 20, a helper on the pick-up van. The incident has left the Rangpur community in shock as they mourn the loss of lives.



The seriously injured driver of the pick-up van, Nishat Mia, has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Shahina Begum’s brother-in-law and his wife, who also sustained injuries, have received primary medical care.



The police have managed to seize both vehicles involved in the accident. However, the driver of the truck and his assistant are currently on the run. A case has been filed as the investigation into the incident continues.
