Dumuria: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar today pledged to build a clean, corruption-free and humane Bangladesh if his party comes to power. Speaking as the chief guest at a student and youth rally in Dumuria upazila of the district, Parwar stated that Jamaat leaders would abstain from using government vehicles or residences if elected in the upcoming election.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar emphasized that any government funds received by parliament members and ministers would be utilized exclusively for development projects, with transparent accounts being maintained and made public. He recalled his tenure as a member of parliament after being elected in 2001, highlighting his commitment to eradicating terrorism in Dumuria, which he claimed to have successfully accomplished.

During his five-year term, Parwar implemented development projects worth Taka 350 crore, covering areas such as infrastructure, education, and religious institutions. Every expenditure was meticulously recorded and shared with the public. He also criticized past MPs and ministers for allegedly misusing state resources and engaging in corrupt practices, such as accepting bribes for the inclusion of educational institutions in the MPO list.

Addressing local issues, Parwar pointed out the ongoing problem of waterlogging in the upazila, attributed to silted rivers and neglected embankments dating back to the 1960s. He mentioned that the government is devising a comprehensive master plan involving significant financial investment to address the crisis through various measures.

Parwar further committed to tackling youth unemployment by promising job opportunities for all graduates and providing unemployment allowances where jobs are unavailable, should Jamaat come to power. The event also featured speeches from Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Islami Chhatra Shibir President Muhammad Zahidul Islam, and Secretary General Muhammad Nurul Islam Saddam. The programme was presided over by Dumuria Upazila Jamaat chief Maulana Mukhtar Hossain.

Khulna district Jamaat Amir Maulana Emran Hossain, alongside local Hindu community leaders Krishna Nandi, Dr. Haridash Mondal, and Principal Deb Prasad Mondal, also addressed the gathering.
