Dinajpur: Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of the largest religious festivals for the Hindu community, will be celebrated at 156 puja mandaps in the border area of Dinajpur. Dinajpur BGB Sector Commander Colonel Md. Ariful Islam confirmed this arrangement and provided further details about the security measures in place for the upcoming festival.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government has implemented a security plan involving the deployment of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members to maintain law and order within eight kilometers of the border area. This year, responsibility for ensuring peace during the celebrations at the 156 puja mandaps has been assigned to three BGB battalions under the Dinajpur sector.
Colonel Islam emphasized that tight security measures are being taken to ensure that the Hindu community in the border area can celebrate their religious festival without any disruptions. He detailed that preparations for Durga Puja have been completed at 156 mandaps, which include 61 in the Dinajpur Border Guard Battalion area, 39 in the Phulbari Border Guard Battalion area, and 56 in the Joypurhat Border Battalion area.
A total of 23 platoons of BGB members have been deployed to provide security at these mandaps from September 25 to October 3, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for the festivities.
