RAB Implements Special Security Measures at Risky Puja Pavilions: DG

Rangpur: Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman announced today that the force has implemented special security measures at risky puja mandaps across the country to ensure the peaceful celebration of Durga Puja. During a visit to the Karunamoyee Kalibari Temple in Rangpur city, he emphasized the importance of these measures in maintaining harmony and friendship among people of different religions and castes.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RAB chief highlighted the significance of Durga Puja as a universal festival and reiterated their commitment to the success of this major Hindu community event. He reported that RAB-13 is responsible for the security of 4,670 puja mandaps in the Rangpur division, with plans to extend their reach to all puja mandaps nationwide.



To address potential threats, an adequate number of RAB personnel will be deployed, with enhanced intelligence surveillance and patrols. The RAB’s dog squad, Bomb Disposal Unit, and special commando team are on standby to counter any sabotage attempts. The RAB Cyber Monitoring Team is also actively working to prevent the spread of rumors and false information online during the celebrations.



In addition to RAB, the Police and BGB are maintaining vigilance at puja mandaps, particularly in border areas. The army will also be present to ensure security. The announcement was made in the presence of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Majid Ali, Rangpur District and Metropolitan Convener of the Durga Puja Festival Committee Dr. Nikhilendra Shankar Guha Roy, senior RAB officials, and leaders of the Puja Celebration Council. Prior to the announcement, the DG visited the city’s Karunamoyee Kalibari Temple to discuss various security concerns.
