NU Treasurer Prof Zafrul Elected President of JUAAB Executive Committee

Dhaka: National University (NU) Treasurer and Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Dhaka University (DU), Dr. ATM Zafrul Azam, has been elected President of the 21-member Executive Committee of the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) for the 2025-2027 term. The election took place at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium in the capital’s Farmgate area.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Mohammed Asaduzzaman Sarker, Professor of Agricultural Extension Education at Bangladesh Agricultural University, was elected General Secretary of the committee. The Zafrul Azam-Asaduzzaman Sarker panel secured all positions on the committee, highlighting their strong support within JUAAB.



A total of 413 members from various sectors, including government and private universities, research institutions, medical and dental universities, and other public and private organizations, participated in the voting process. The election was conducted in two phases, with voting hours from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.



Following his victory, Dr. Zafrul Azam expressed his commitment to enhancing academic and professional collaboration among alumni of Japanese universities in Bangladesh, aiming to strengthen ties and opportunities for members.
