Dhaka: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has called on the public to assist in curbing the illegal inflow of firearms into the nation, which poses a threat to national security and public safety.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGB has urged citizens to report any pertinent information regarding the smuggling of illegal weapons by utilizing the toll-free number 01769600555. The appeal comes following revelations that certain groups are attempting to disrupt the country’s law and order by importing firearms unlawfully.

In a recent operation based on its intelligence, the BGB seized a cache of weapons over the past three months. The confiscated items include 16 domestic and foreign pistols, two revolvers, two submachine guns (SMGs), five rifles, 16 domestic guns, three shotguns, three mortar shells, eight hand grenades, 27 other weapons, 21 magazines, and 1,003 rounds of ammunition.

The BGB has intensified its intelligence and operational measures at the border to thwart the illegal entry of arms into Bangladesh. The organization emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in strengthening national security efforts.
