Preparatory Meeting Focuses on Security for Durga Puja Celebrations in Rangpur

Rangpur: On the occasion of the Autumn Durga Puja celebrations in Rangpur, a meeting was held to discuss security at places of worship, maintenance of law and order, and other related issues. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal presided over the meeting, which took place in his conference room.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Faisal emphasized that Sharadiya Durga Puja is the biggest festival for the Sanaton community. He highlighted the importance of law enforcement and local administrations performing their duties with dedication to ensure peace and order at the Puja mandaps and surrounding areas. He called upon all attendees to remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents before, during, and after the idol immersion.



The Deputy Commissioner assured the Puja celebration committee members that the police, intelligence members, and quick response teams would be on standby to handle any potential disturbances. He reiterated the administration’s readiness to assist in celebrating the festival peacefully and safely, regardless of religion or caste. Furthermore, he advised against heeding rumors and urged resistance against those who disrupt the country’s communal harmony.



To bolster security, the Deputy Commissioner announced plans to install lighting and CCTV cameras on the stage. He suggested displaying the contact numbers of law enforcement and fire service officials at the Puja mandaps for easy access. He also stressed the importance of having male and female volunteer team members present at each Puja mandap and recommended separate entry and exit routes for male and female visitors.



The meeting concluded with a call for cooperation from all involved to ensure a peaceful and festive atmosphere during Durga Puja. Attendees included government officials, political party leaders, law enforcement members, district and upazila Puja celebration committees, and journalists.
