JUST Hosts Awareness Programme on Mental Health and Addiction Prevention

Jashore: An awareness programme focusing on mental health and addiction prevention was held at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the office of the Director of Student Counseling and Guidance at JUST, in collaboration with the Ahsania Mission Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Jashore.



The JUST Anti-Drug Society played a coordinating role in the programme. The Vice-Chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, attended as the chief guest, while Dr. Md. Rafiul Hasan, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Department of JUST, chaired the event. Special guests included Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun and Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Department Jashore, Md. Aslam Hossain.



Rakhi Ganguly, a senior psychologist and addiction specialist from the Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector, was the main discussant at the event. Syed Mizanur Islam, Manager at the Ahsania Mission Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Jashore, moderated the programme. The speakers highlighted methods for maintaining good mental health and avoiding various addictions. They emphasized the significance of students’ mental health and discussed the severe effects of drug usage, providing guidelines to avoid addiction.



The programme drew participation from university teachers, officials, journalists, civil society representatives, and about 200 students.
