Narail: A preparatory meeting for the smooth celebration of Durga Puja was held in Narail today. The meeting, organized by the district administration, took place with Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhtar Jahan in the chair at the DC Conference room.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by senior government officials of the district, including the chiefs of law enforcement agencies. Also present were Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front advocate Pankaj Bihari Ghosh, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Ashok Kundu, and Joint Secretary Babul Bhattacharita.

Durga Puja will be celebrated in the district across 524 mandaps. Of these, 239 mandaps will be set up in Sadar Upazila, which includes 38 in Narail Municipality. Lohagara Upazila will host 144 pujas, and Kalia Upazila will have 141.

To ensure peaceful celebrations, several decisions were made during the meeting. These include the installation of CCTV cameras at important mandaps, the construction of entrances for visitor searches, and the appointment of local volunteers at each venue.

Members of Ansar and VDP will be deployed full-time at all mandaps during the Puja period. Additionally, security will be strengthened through coordination among the police and other law enforcement agencies to avoid any untoward incidents, as decided in the meeting.
