Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman today called upon party leaders and activists nationwide to pledge their dedication to restoring democracy in the country. He emphasized the need for vigilance and commitment to this cause until Bangladesh returns to a democratic path.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman delivered his speech as the chief guest at the biennial council of the Thakurgaon district BNP, held at the field of Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School. He expressed the party’s readiness to govern the country based on a 31-point plan if elected, promising to align with the people’s aspirations.
District unit BNP senior vice president, heroic freedom fighter Abu Karim, chaired the event, while District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin served as the moderator. Tarique Rahman underscored the importance of political parties presenting their views to the public, allowing the people to decide which party will lead the nation.
He warned against creating situations that could lead to chaos or the return of a fugitive dictator, stressing the importance of leaving unresolved issues in the interim government’s reform commission to the people’s judgment. The conference was inaugurated by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, with Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu as the key speaker. The event saw attendance from thousands of BNP leaders and activists from neighboring districts.
