Dhaka: Evercare Hospital Dhaka today observed the first-ever World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD), marked globally on September 7, to highlight the life-saving role of radiotherapy in cancer management and raise awareness among healthcare professionals and the wider community. Senior officials, oncologists, and medical experts from the hospital, including its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, attended the programme, according to a press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, speakers at the event discussed advancements in radiotherapy, the need for improved patient access, and ways to dispel misconceptions surrounding radiation treatment. They underscored the importance of strengthening cancer care in Bangladesh through technology, innovation, and specialized expertise.

The initiative reinforced Evercare Hospital Dhaka’s commitment to enhancing cancer treatment and supporting patients with cutting-edge radiotherapy services, the release added. World Radiotherapy Awareness Day was first introduced during London Global Cancer Week in 2024 and formally recognized in early 2025.

The observance seeks to promote global awareness of radiotherapy’s essential role in cancer treatment, encourage wider access to care, and address prevailing misconceptions about the therapy.
